PFAS National Environmental Management Plan – version 2.0 published
The first version of the PFAS National Environmental Management Plan (PFAS NEMP) was published in February 2018, after endorsement by all Australian environment ministers. Version 2.0 was agreed by all the Heads of the Environment Protection Agencies in October 2019, and is now being implemented in most jurisdictions. The PFAS NEMP 2.0 provides new and revised guidance on four of the areas that were identified as urgent priorities in the first version of the NEMP: environmental guideline values; soil reuse; wastewater management; and on-site containment. The PFAS NEMP will continue to be updated by all jurisdictions cooperatively, to reflect any new scientific developments and lessons learned from experiences in managing PFAS contamination.
The PFAS NEMP 2.0, and more detailed information about its contents and development has been published on the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment’s website.
